hey, i'm gonna get a longboard soon but i was wondering what board and size is good for someone who is around 14 yrs old....

Basically all the boards would suit someone 14 years old. You have to decide what style of longboarding you want to do. The shorter boards, around say 33", are less stable at speed but light to carry around. Then you have the medium boards say 33" to 40" - These boards are good all round boards and set up for general carving and cruising without being too long. The longer boards - 40" to 55" - are set up for a smoother cruising style of riding with wider turns and a soft, smooth controlled ride

is this board good for sliding or carving down steep hills and general use ?

yes, this is exactly what this board is good for.

I'm 90KGs, will this board be ok for my weight ?

Yes, this is a 9-ply Canadian maple deck, so you'll be fine and it can handle more than that.

I gather that this board is very stable and carveable, however how does it handle rougher surfaces ? As it doesn't have a kick, does this mean i won't be able to get it up gutters/driveways etc ?

The Dropthrough is set up more for downhill longboarding and not really suitable for jumping gutters etc. A shorter board with a kicktail would be more suitable.

is it convex concave ? is it u shaped ? how light is it ?

The deck is convex and fairly heavy and rigid.

Hi, Im planning on buying this board, is it ok for goofy style, beginners ?

Yes, its OK and will suit you when you become more experienced .

I have been riding an Apex 37 for the a while now, but have found when going down steep asphalt hills (that aren't very smooth), the front end of the board wobbled like crazy, and in the end had to carve down the hill. Now i love to carve, but i also love to get up to high speeds. Does the Vault Drop have any issues when it comes to the front axles wobbling when you're getting high speeds ?

The raised front stabilises the deck to a degree by placing the rear truck at a lower angle. But so much depends on what speed you are trying to achieve, how tight is the kingpin etc. It is a good downhill board but every set up has a limitation somewhere, so no guarantees.

Could you tell me what the advantages and disadvantages are between the 40” Dropthrough and the 42” Drop Carve ?

The big difference is the 40" dropthrough has no flex, so it’s probably a bit better for speed and it has the 78A wheels so they don’t slide but are good for grip. The 42" Drop Carve is lighter and has flex, so you can use this to increase your turns etc and it has 83A wheels so it’s a better set up for sliding.

Hi, Im 14 and am just wondering whether the Vault Dropthrough 40” is a suitable board for me. My area has hills and flat surfaces. There is a Primary school down the road where I cruise with my current 32” Pintail Longboard but the school has sticks, small jumps and an uneven surface.

Yes, this is a good all-round board and also suitable for the more serious longboarder. The big 76mm 78a Soft wheels will make it easier to get over the bumps and sticks etc. This board is not great for jumps.

Currently i have the Vault Cruiser 34

Yes it is a good board for turning and a more advanced board than the cruiser. 83A wheels are well suited to sliding, if you get 78A wheels, they’ll slide once the wheels are broken in for a while.

I recently purchased 2 longboards through this company , one was a drop through and the other was a streamline. I purchased the boards for my 2 boys and they are very happy with them both, I was very pleased with the quality of the boards and the delivery times were fantastic! Not to mention the prices were really low as well.. I will be purchasing another board in the next few days because i find this company to be reliable and the price and quality of the products are amazing!! Great first longboard. Lots of fun, easy balance and was riding down hills within minutes. Stable, sturdy and is a definitely recommended first board.

I ordered on a Thursday, arrived on the Tuesday. Great service and trackable through Aust. Post. The board is cheap, but is great to ride. Have already done about 10km on the first day and wearing in very well. Very stable downhill, and cruising is great although pumping takes alot more effort than my kids boards. You wont be disappointed. :-)

My boys got a Bamboo Slime and a Dropthrough long boards for christmas. Del on time "thanks" and gr8 prices! The boys have not got off them since and think the boards are Awesome. I might even buy a dropthrough for myself as it's been 30 yrs since on a board and so easy to ride.

i've had the board for about 3 months and its a good shape. the wheels are not the best but are good for learning on. i recommend getting the 76mm 84a zombiehawgs with this deck and trucks

A board which is great fun and easy to ride. I am still running it in but am really enjoying just cruising on it or some light carving. A good board at a very reasonable price. Having ridden some of their boards I would definitely recommend the boards to my friends in the future.

I got the board in 1 and a half days after i bought it which was very unexpected. It is perfect from cruising and bombing hills except you need to loosen the trucks a little. Overall a fantastic board and very good price!

My dropthrough is wonderful, I'm loving it's shear speed and stability!

The wheels make it slightly more prone to slipping when venturing on tight, fast corners, but this is completely overlooked ~ the board is just purely awesome in every other aspect, and the slipping is most likely due to my inexperience

Great value for money, this board is the perfect setup for cruising and sliding. Stock wheels can slide right off the bat and once worn in are beasts. thanks skateboardexpress once again.

I got this board a couple of weeks ago, i didn't really use it a lot until this week, but I went with a mate and travelled about 20 Km's yesterday, it's great to push around on. Although I don't have much to compare it to due to it being my first board, but the only thing is that it's a little heavy but I think it's fine for my first board. A good buy!

so i just got my long board, it arrived in 3 days and i have been riding it consistantly since, it has encouraged me to get back on the board, something i havent done in years and ive found it to be a great versitile board that although has a slightly week nose for high speed crashes (oops)its great in all other areas, just losen the trucks a little

The dropthrough is my 2nd board, the 1st board being the vault cruiser. This board is amazing at downhill. Its so stable but still responds to sharp turns! Its still great for cruising around too. Easily the favourite of all my mates boards.

Have had my dropthrough a month now. Still smiling. I use it mainly as a cruiser. Very easy to carve, pretty stable. Thumbs up for the 70mm wheels, and the bearings- This board flies, You get really good value for effort.
Downsides... The board is solid, but little details like badly routed edges and crooked looking drop through holes make the board look like a cheap inferior board. Board is also a bit on the heavy side.
Personally, I don't care what my board looks like, as long as it rides well. And it does.

Bought my 13 year old son & I an Orange Crush. My son, his friends and I got right into longboarding, especially downhill. The Orange Crush is an Excellent carving board, but not the best for downhill. So I bought a Rayne Vendetta with Randal R-II 180 trucks, Orangatang 4preseident 70mm 80a wheels with bones reds bearings for myself & a Vault Dropthough deck for my son, and put the trucks and wheels from the Orange Crush on it with Bones Red bearings. Well after a couple of weeks of skating, from 60km downhill to carving 4km of Fernleigh track, I honestly can say that the Vault Dropthrough is almost as good as the Vendetta. Yes the Vendetta is a better made board, lighter and more durable, but is twice the price of the Vault. In my opinion, if you are looking for a dropthrough board for FUN skating, the Vault is a no brainer. If you are a serious skater bombing serious hills and busting power slides, the Vendetta is probably the go and you will probably be able to tell the difference between the 2 better than me. My son and I love both, and the Vault is doing everything we ask of it and more, for half the price.

the board is great, after riding it for a few straight days and the wheels and bearings are worn in the board flys, is even faster than a board with ceramics, fast shipping when sent,this board was a great buy and very cheap, from other leading manufatures is skate shops charging $300+

My dad got this board for me yesterday. I rode it all of yesterday, and all of today. This board is awesome for beginners. Im already bombing massive hills and carving it up. Great for downhill/carving. Im really happy with this board.

Overall it's very good I love riding it. there was black texter covering scratch marks on the side and the cutting out around the drop through trucks is a bit dodgy. but over all its an awsome ride.

ive had this board about a month now and it only gets better :D my friend bought the fibremix and mine turns so sharp it's amazing. i had none of the scratches or whatever people are talking about arrived in perfect condition. the up slanted nose makes nose manuals and shuvits really easy and this was a great board for me to transition from normal skateboarding. the trucks are sturdy and turn well and the wheels are grippy but i can still slide on them. best longboard ive ridden, id recommend it to all my friends.

Being a beginner I wanted a stable board. This is perfect for me. Very fast, even on low grade slopes, very stable, the raised edges give you amazing control. It turns really short for a longboard. It happily swallows bitumen imperfections, potholes and road gravel. I am now trying to pull out a Cliff Coleman, being a 42 years of age beginner!!!!! :)

Was concerned about quality when first arrived as the bolt holes for front truck are slightly askew, the cutouts were done by someone with shaky hands and the bottom layer of ply is cracked around every nut underneath.
HOWEVER none of this has mattered AT ALL. This board is extremely fun when carving and sliding. Have only taken it up to 35kpm but it felt very stable. Puts up with a beating too.
Definitely recommend for the price!

This is board is designed for speed. If you want to escape the death wobbles and do some really hard power sliding, this is your longboard. Adorn protective apparel!
I modified it just a tad as the bolts had very small washers on the bottom. This allowed the back trucks to grown in slides.
Its not reasonable to compare the Dervish or an Apex 37 to this board. Its not a symmetrical plan and its not ment to pop. Its built for speed and it huggs the growned well.
Know what you want before you buy! This is a good board on hills but not for the driveway.
It wouldn't be my only board.#:)

Average quite heavy board but great for down hill and beginners but wldnt recommend it as a curving board. Good value but cannot compare to my Loaded Dervish or Apex 37's.

Average quality board , very heavy . Cutouts for trucks colored in with black texta just as other small marks on the deck were. Arrived scratched underneath from being poorly packaged in bubble wrap and the other deck I bought rubbed against it with its Grip tape and scratched it. You get what you pay for !! keep that in mind when buying . I dont think I would be the only complaint , so I guess next time I look this comment will be removed.

I needed a downhill board that I could afford with good performance. For a decent price I got the dropthrough which is strong, fast and stable. The ride is smooth, the deck is tough and gives great handling and stability at speed. At low speeds it is difficult to turn, but this board is built to go rather quick. This longboard is perfect for anyone who wants to do some downhill or get from A to B quickly.

Pretty stoked with this board, delivery was fast and made it the day before christmas. I like how low it is, makes it easy to push, really chilled balance as well. she turns fine but you can kick it up a notch by loosening trucks at the expense of stability. Wow - great board. This is my 4th longboard (second from skateboard Express) and by far the best. It's low, fast and stable. If I could only own one board this would be it. Unreal price and service also. Highly recomend. +++

Awesome board. I have a loaded dervish also, this is a very close second. Loosen the trucks a little and this board rips it. Great value and great board
