  • The Psycho 40” Dropdown is a low riding longboard that is great for sliding around town.
  • The deck sits 3” from the ground to give it real hovering like experience and easy to push around.
  • Now fitted with white 76mm 83A wheels making this dropdown board a great set up for sliding.
  • The angled risers allow you to change the angle of the trucks to give you more stability or more turning ability depending on your needs.
  • Be aware that the angle of the deck and the trucks restricts the turning ability of this board so it will not turn as sharp as other boards.
  • A tip from one of our regular customers on riding the Emo – wedge the front truck to angle the baseplate up and de-wedge the rear truck to flatten the baseplate. This should give it more stability on big hills and will make pendy slides and pre drifting into corners a heap easier. The back will naturally want to start sliding.

Specifications:

  • 9 Ply Canadian Maple  Deck
  • Length 40” / 1015mm
  • Wide Point 8” / 204mm

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Would this longboard be good for carving, sliding and just riding around the street ?

The Emo is not a good carver as the angled ends prevent the trucks from turning as tightly as other boards.

Does the low 3 inch clearance mean that you hit more bumps ?

Yes it is lower so you may hit some bumps and scrape on the bottom.

Hi guys I’m wondering if this board (Psycho Emo Dropdown 40

The EMO is not really a beginners board as it is more set up for downhill and does not turn as well as a standard longboard. You would be better off with the 40" Dropthrough as this is a good easy to ride longboard with good turning ability and is good for beginners through to experienced longboarders.

Hi, I recently bought a Emo Dropdown and I was wondering what Dave Ruys was recommending about wedging the front truck and de-wedging the back. Do I need to buy anything new for this or could I just take the riser off one end and put it on the other end? What side will then be the front when sliding? Also the nuts are impossible to unscrew to take the risers off, how do I do this?

He is talking about getting the front truck at less of an angle to give the front more turning ability (turning angled pad around) and maybe using a second angled pad to get a better angle depending on how much turn is needed but you will need longer bolts from a hardware store to do this and more riser pads. The back truck should be at a lower angle to give stability at speed. The right spanner will unscrew the nuts, use the spanner (3 in 1 tool) to undo the nuts and a phillips head screwdriver to stop the head from turning, make sure you use the correct fitting spanner or you will bur the nuts, but with the right spanner they'll come off easily.

does this board carve? i know it slides but does it carve good?

It's not really set up to be a good carver due to the angle of the front truck.

Well first of this longboard is awesome! It's great for downhill and once you loosen the trucks up its great for cruising. The delivery time was great! There was one little problem though, the grip tape had bubbled up where your feet go but its no biggy. Overall buy this board!!! Thanks skateboard express!!

though the griptape let go in under a week, this was with alot of rain riding. I use this as my daily commuter and enjoy the entire time spent on it. I'm running 180 gullwing chargers and have no worries with speed wobbles.
love it

Nice board and setup. I changed bushings to venom orange barrels and flipped the risers (heavy risers?!) for carving and to give more turn. Thin board, little flex at 80kilos. Concave is not too aggressive. Foot wells are comfy and support feet when carving / sliding.Tails can be manualled - just! Wheels are smooth and good thane, slide ok good all round. I will upgrade the grip tape once worn. Trucks look pretty decent, high angle and kingpin fits double barrel bushings. Ideal board for the price conscious. Certainly worth the money when compared to other boards available in Aus / UK. Good company too great service.

Very good board for beginner to intermediate sliding and bombing. I suggest hitting nothing above 70 on this board as it can be prone to speed wobbles. Also Me and my friends have found 6 inch trucks give the board more agility. All in all great board for standing and hands down slides. cheers
BEST bomb for buck!!

I've looked around before I bought and if you want a good alround longboard this one's the absolute best value for money! Can't fault the materials / quality of the board and parts. Had a bit of speed whobble, but haven't been boarding in years, so that's of influence too. I'd recomand the Emo any day! Thanks!

Is a very good board, suggested for ametuer skaters, just dont go over anything higher than 3' or you'll scrape the bottom (like I did today)

this board is absoloutley great, highly recomend it if you like the really fast bombing down the hills. however because its a drop down, if you go over a small speed bump like most car parks have, the bottom generally scrapes over the top, not an issue though because its great fun.
my friend got the vault dropdown freeride and it corners and carves a thousand times better than this, but if you like cruising for a cheap price, go for it, this board is great fun for anybody, especially if you like SPEED!!!!

The emo's a great baord, whether your into freeriding, bombing or carving it;s a versitile and stable board. With the drop deck the the board is both stable and easy to control (foot break, carving). although I didn't find the wheels much good for sliding, they are perfect for bombing a ncie big hil. thanks alot Psycho for another great board!

So I got this board as a christmas present and I love it! Loosen the trucks and this board kills at sliding (once the wheels are worn in). Tighten the trucks up and this board is an amazing downhill board. Great control and with the trucks loose you can get this board to carve with some speed that is ;) Which is ideal when it comes to skating. Love this board and would recommend it to anyone :D

The Psycho Emo is great for hills and slides, the board is ideal for bombing hills as it is very stable and low to the ground. The board does not carve very well due to its hight.
